When Lubricants Fail to Flow - The Gelation Phenomenon

Ted has collected interesting experience in over 50 years in the field of fuels and lubricants - particularly the latter. In the process of helping industry solve problems in the area of viscometric and other phenomena, he and his associates have developed several viscometric approaches and related instruments to understand and resolve those problems. Ted admits that after a couple of hundred papers and presentations he now knows more about what he doesn't know - and can prove it.

The teleseminar with Ted Selby will focus on his experiences with the phenomenon of gelation or semi-solidification of lubricants and fuels at lower temperatures. Depending on the formulation of lubricants or the hydrocarbon composition of jet fuels, such lubricants and fuels can form a gelated mass that cause them to resist pumping thus leading to engine damage or other obvious problems. Ted's studies and background have helped him and his associates to understand and resolve such lubricant and fuel-related problems.
